Prepping for NYFW

I can’t believe we are already one month down in 2010!

The beginning of February usually marks the total doldrums of winter. Normally, I want to spend my time curled up in bed, hopelessly trying to remember what warm sunshine feels like (Sigh!)

This year, however, an upcoming trip to New York Fashion Week has me feeling refreshingly inspired and über motivated. I’m a Fashion Week virgin and couldn’t be more excited to pop this cherry!  My mission is to perfect my street style look of warm layers, practical-yet-fashionable boots (obvi), and the perfect accessories.

Snapped a few pics of yesterday’s practice look in the studio at Calico…

These vintage Henry Bendel over-the-knee boots are definitely coming with me! Everything I pack can be super-short, layered up, and worn with opaque tights–easily going from outdoors/indoors, day/night.

My favorite SAFE tee, Safety in numbers, vintage grey wool vest, vintage boys blazer. H&M black skinny jeans.

Newest necklace from my accessories line, please+thankyou, (kind of getting attached to this one!) with vintage 60’s mink and pearl sweater clip my lovely roommate gave me. I’ve been wearing this a lot lately, and it’s a great little add-on to any outfit!

The bracelet is a bit of a working sample–braided handkerchief-cotton, with seashell jangly jangles. Elissa and I plan on incorporating some pieces like this in an upcoming project… This versatile accessory could be worn as a headband, belt, necklace, or bracelet!

I also scored a ridiculously sweet patch leather backpack from Calico–so stoked to rock this outrageous bag at Fashion Week! Check back to spy it in future NYFW post…

xo,
Cody
