I recently scored a sick Guy Laroche knock-off bag – a black leather, bucket-shaped, mini-backpack with gold grommet details – and it’s got me falling hard for early 90’s fashion!
My current 90’s style muse? Marisa Tomei’s Oscar-winning character, Mona Lisa Vito, from “My Cousin Vinny.” Everyday seems like the perfect day to rock her giant sunglasses, over-sized shoulder pads, and big hair-sprayed hair, with the tiniest of mini skirts and barely-there bandage dresses!
Black black black and leather everything.
Totally loving the strong-shouldered silhouette and all-over stud detail!
Coveting her peek-a-boo blonde streak!
Awesome: deep v-neck with delicate gold pendant and enormous black shades!
And who could forget this classic clip, featuring the most uh-mazing floral print catsuit? Pure 90’s perfection!
Are you hooked yet? We here at Calico strongly suggest you Netflix “My Cousin Vinny” immediately. And don’t forget to visit our blog again soon for more vintage style inspiration!

If you follow Calico on Twitter, you know that we’ve been super-busy working on our new fall window installation. Here’s some quick snapshots of the finished product! (Click the images to view larger versions.)
Our resident window-dresser and merchandiser-extraordinaire, Cody Nowell, did a bang-up job designing and installing this display. We love the spooky Halloween feel it has at night!
You can check out this window at Calico (173 Union St, downtown New Bedford, MA) until mid-November!
