Everyone’s At It

Here we go again, folks!

British pop icon, Lily Allen, and figure skating’s l’enfant terrible, Johnny Weir, are the two most recent celebs to quit their already fabulous careers and jump on the fashion bandwagon!

Lily Allen recently announced her retirement from the music industry to pursue a career focused on fashion. But, unlike most celeb-to-fashion converts, Lily is not planning on designing clothing.

Instead, Allen, along with her sister Sarah Owen, plans to launch a vintage project called “Lucy in Disguise.” The sisters’ collection, which is rumored to feature “tweaked” vintage designs, will debut at the multi-dealer event, Vintage at Goodwood, in West Sussex, England this summer. A permanent boutique will follow soon after.

Lily has already launched a pretty adorable jewelry collection, full of quirky charms, vintage-y pendants, and glittery enamel earrings–and we can’t wait to see her take on vintage!

Figure skater, Johnny Weir, has also decided to forgo the rink for a go at fashion. The former Olympian says the transition felt natural, “I feel like skating is an art form and fashion is an art form… and I just grew to love it as a collector.”

From his controversial fur-wearing at the 2010 Olympics to his modeling gig at Heatherette’s Spring 2007 runway show, Weir’s audacious fashion sense and creative vision is thoroughly apparent. And this former Olympian does not intend to just slap his name on a ready-made collection, as many celebrities do. Johnny plans to study design at FIT, in order to be hands-on through-out the entire design process.

So, what do you think, Calico readers? Are you excited for these celeb lines? Or do you think they should stick to their day jobs?

xo,
Lizzy
